Dark Matter coffee is served at Osmium in Lakeview, and if you haven’t tried it, you really must.
Dark Matter coffee’s manifesto states it strives to deliver the most intellectually honest coffee you will experience through sustainability, fair business practices, and social responsibility. This is a big plus, but the taste is what sells the coffee drinks, for sure.
My personal favorite is the Mayan Mocha. It has chocolate, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and agave. But the drip coffee is also impeccable and your bottomless cup is only $3.
It’s a colorful cafe in Lakeview on Belmont, a stretch of avenue where you cannot go a block or so without stumbling on coffee, but it’s worth the visit for the quality of their beans and for their Indy feel.
There are two bars by the windows, several tables with electrical outlets alongside the wall, and picnic tables in their back patio for outside seating, some with umbrellas for shade.
It can be a bit loud and the tables are a bit high for laptop typing, but somehow you get into the zone and things get done. I’ve spent a few afternoons here working and I’ve always been productive while enjoying quality coffee.
