Groundswell is a great find in Ravenswood. A former Starbucks manager decided to open a micro-roaster of beans from around the world and we are very grateful for this.
We stumbled in on July 4th as they were one of the few places open for service. The staff was cheerful, courteous, and helpful, the coffee and tea delicious, and on that muggy day the a/c inside was turned to eleven.
Their free wi-fi and comfortable atmosphere, the natural light coming in through the windows and the clean, industrial decor warmed up with reclaimed wood allow you to work there for hours.
There is a bar with stools at the front where you can watch life go by, and there are several tables along the funky wall and towards the back, plus a small couch area, and plenty of electrical outlets.
When you stay there, typing at your laptop for hours, the a/c becomes Arctic and you begin wearing scarves and sweaters to stay alive, cradling your hot coffee in your hands. Should it get unbearable though, they also have outdoor seating and you can get a cold brew instead, or a growler to go. Paninis and pastries are also available.
