On my recent trip to Amsterdam, I’ve been staying with a friend in the Jordaan neighborhood. Most mornings, I’d find myself at Moods Coffee Corner, a great little coffee house a 10 minute walk away with fantastic croissants and delicious coffee served by the nicest staff I’ve come across.
Inside Moods, you find a simple, small space with a handful of seats upstairs, some seating in the front of the store, and a couple tables out front. Moods is situated on the corner of an active intersection along the houseboat-lined Lijnbaansgracht canal at the very end of Lindengracht Street where the seating out front affords an active view of the community.
Moods provides free wifi and a relaxing atmosphere to catch up on email, read a book, or meet foreign travelers staying at the nearby hotel or locals who come to their favorite coffee house. Everyone is friendly here and if you’re visiting on a Saturday, you’ll get to experience the farmers market that occurs across the street and spans several blocks with an abundance of produce, meats, cheeses, crafts, and electronics.
While there are a lot of places you can go to for your morning coffee and contemplate the day ahead, Moods has been enjoyable pocket of comfort to begin my day.
Be sure to tell ’em I sent ya!
